Adaptive Hybrid System Solutions
Protean hybrid energy systems (HES) were an emerging technology in the early 2000. The technology was evolving continuously and today has wider applicability and lower costs. The adaptive standardized design allows it to be easier to select a system suited to particular applications with improved reliability and the lowest possible cost. Protean proprietary control system allows increased communication between subsystems. It facilitates control, monitoring, and diagnosis. HES bring together different energy generation, storage, and consumption technologies in a single system, improving the overall benefits compared to a system that depends on a single energy source. Battery energy storage systems (BESS) and supercapacitors, add up to systems that are 100% sustainable, solar, photovoltaics (PV), wind, fuel cells, micro-hydro plants, and magnetic. Protean HES has also grown in capacity from small, off-grid systems of a few kilowatts (typically designed for low voltage DC and AC) to larger megawatt systems. HES can expand and connect to medium voltage grid-connected systems.
The specific use cases for HES depend on customer availability of resources, customized design of power & voltage levels, and off-grid/on-grid connection.
